Vonn wins gold in women’s downhill

Lindsey Vonn from United States, as we know got a shin injury all week, finally won the gold medal in the women’s downhill chase at the Vancouver Olympics on Wednesday.

Vonn showed no signs of shin injury when she won the women’s downhill by more than half a second Wednesday, with adolescence battling and American teammate Julia Mancuso taking a surprise silver medal

In a chase characterized by several crashes — including one to Swedish standout Anja Paerson — Vonn’s sped bottomward Franz’s Decline in 1 minute, 44.19 seconds.

As well as making alpine history for the US, Vonn is also the first American woman to win olympic gold in an alpine speed event since childhood hero Picabo Street won super-G gold at the Nagano Games of 1998.

Vonn swept the decline and super-G at aftermost season’s apple championships in Val d’Isere, France, but had never won an Olympic medal. She had a alarming blast in decline training at the 2006 Turin Games.
