Watch Sons of Anarchy Season 2 Episode 12

With each passing episode of Sons of Anarchy, I continually wonder why more people aren’t watching. I nearly feel as though being a fan of SOA is an exclusive club privy to the elite.

The chessboard has been set in Charming for the final showdown. Opie finally knows the truth about who killed Donna, and he is resigned in knowing it. Opie went face to face with the two people behind his wife’s death, Clay and Agent Stahl. In the end, with is gun loaded and his heart bleeding, Opie took the high road and left his wife’s murderers alive. Much like the passing of the Bible before the reign of Constantine, the Gospel according to Teller, Jax’s father, has been passed in secret from Jax to Opie. Jax is not the only one spreading the forbidden Teller doctrine of a brighter SAMCRO. Gemma also finds herself ready to hand Jax back his burnt copy of his father’s manuscript. Who would have thought that the matriarch, who once tried to kill Wendy (Jax ex-wife and the mother of Jax’s son), could experience such a profound change of heart?

In Episode 11, “Service,” Jax gives Tara his gun before going into the nursery with Clay. Not only was the passing of the gun hysterical (I mean he did it so nonchalantly), but it also showed the change in Tara’s character. She is becoming Gemma. The following scene in the nursery was another superbly scripted scene. Clay says, “I’m sorry son.” To which, Jax answers, “So am I.” The scene was so profoundly delivered in only a few words. When Clay questions Jax what they should do, Jax answers, “We kill ‘em all.” Jax then kisses the baby, anointing his son in blood.

Okay, so I mentioned Opie earlier. But, seriously, can we get a round of applause for Ryan Hurst? His confrontation with Agent Stahl had every SAMCRO home viewer sitting on the edge of his or her seat. The scene could have easily been a cliché melodramatic throwaway, but Hurst delivers a powerful performance that is nothing less than brilliant. When Stahl finally cried, it was earned. Unlike “The Sopranos,” which often became a characterization of itself, the reality of Sons of Anarchy continues to grow through each character’s development. In the scene when Jax questions for Opie’s help, Jax says, “I need you brother.” Opie stands up and simply says, “I’m here.” If you didn’t feel like jumping up and yelling, “Right,” you just don’t get it.

It’s obvious that in the next few episodes, Ethan’s dealings with the Mayans will be used against him. Now that Jax knows Ethan’s weakness, Jax will no doubt try and leak the information to Weston. The question remains, will Weston turn on Zobelle before Zobelle has a chance to gun down his number one hitman? This is Charming after all. And, in Charming ancient relationships tend to end buried in blood. Just question the forgotten ATF agent from Season 1. What was his name again? His ghost will probably be dug up sometime around the Sons of Anarchy Series finale, which, hopefully, will be a few years off.

My largest question this season is, what is with the homeless woman who has appeared throughout Sons of Anarchy? Kurt Sutter has embedded several religious images and metaphors in Sons of Anarchy, so the obvious answer is that she represents something poignant in the Christian doctrine. The Homeless woman seems to appear every time someone is having a change of heart or direction, most recently appearing in the Church with Gemma. Could she be a St. Michael type character, guarding the gates of Purgatory? In lore, St. Michael holds the scales, weighing the “souls of man.” Maybe the homeless woman is St. Michael’s embodiment?

About Episode 12
In Sons of Anarchy Season 2 Episode 12, “The Culling,” the entire SAMCRO family goes on lockdown inside the clubhouse as Jax and Clay prepare to battle The League. A.J. Weston learns the truth about Ethan Zobelle’s business dealings in Charming. Applying what she has learned from Gemma, Tara ensures her position at St. Thomas Hospital.

Hope you delight in, Pleased watching
